  • John R. McGee vs. Kirby Inland Marine

    PA - Matthew Shaffer, J - Milton Shuffield

    Seaman John R. McGee has filed a Jones Act suit against Kirby Inland Marine for injuries he received more than two years ago. McGee is suing for past and future mental anguish, impairment and medical expenses.

  • Amber Juneau et al vs. Amado D. Ramirez

    PA - Amber Juneau, J – Bob Wortham

    Juneau, individually and on behalf of her minor daughter, is suing the defendant for allegedly negligently causing an automobile collision Oct. 31, 2007. The plaintiffs are suing for past and future mental anguish, medical expenses and pain.

  • Beatrice Hamilton vs. State Farm Lloyds

    PA – Rocky Lawdermilk, J – Bob Wortham

    The plaintiff is suing the insurance company for allegedly refusing to pay at least a portion of her Hurricane Rita policy claim. The suit alleges the defendant committed several Insurance Code and DTPA violations.

    The plaintiff is suing for actual and consequential damages, plus attorneys' fees.

  • Patricia Milton vs. Beaumont Independent School District

    PA – Hart Green, J – Gary Sanderson

    A fired Beaumont Independent School District coach has filed suit against the district, claiming her termination was racial and gender motivated. The plaintiff is seeking exemplary damages.

  • Keisha Kittling et al vs. Kenya McCall

    PA- Jonathan Juhan, J – Donald Floyd

    Kittling, individually and on behalf of her minor son, is suing the defendant for allegedly negligently causing an automobile collision July 30, 2006. The defendant allegedly ran a stop sign and slammed into the plaintiff's vehicle. The plaintiffs are suing for past and future mental anguish, medical expenses, lost earnings, disfigurement and pain, plus attorneys' fees.

  • Odessia Chatman vs. Chris Chatman

    PA- Jonathan Juhan, J – Donald Floyd

    On July 25, 2006, the plaintiff was traveling on 11th Street when the defendant slammed into her vehicle. The plaintiff is suing for mental anguish, medical expenses, lost earnings, disfigurement and pain, plus attorneys' fees.

  • Milton Zachary vs. Progressive County Mutual Insurance Co. et al

    PA- Jonathan Juhan, J – Gary Sanderson

    The plaintiff is suing his automobile insurance provider for denying his request for underinsured motorist benefits following a May 10, 2006, automobile collision.

    The plaintiff is suing for mental anguish, medical expenses, lost earnings, disfigurement and pain, plus attorneys' fees.

  • Sharon Ozen vs. Senior Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center

    PA - Barry Bennett, J - Milton Shuffield

    Found in a pool of his own blood two years ago, Clifford Ozen has since suffered from seizures and decreased mobility. Claiming Senior Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center allowed her husband to fall from his bed, Sharon Ozen filed suit against the healthcare provider. Sharon is suing for her husband's past and future medical expenses, impairment and mental anguish, plus economic damages and attorneys' fees.

  • Derramine Je-Rone Wilson vs. Zeenat Lalani

    PA – Scott Browne, J – Milton Shuffield

    On Jan. 24, 2008, the plaintiff was traveling eastbound on Calder in Beaumont when the defendant allegedly failed to yield the right-of-way and hit the plaintiff's vehicle.

    The plaintiff is suing for mental anguish, medical expenses, lost earnings, disfigurement and pain, plus attorneys' fees.

  • Loretta and Jenerie Moore vs. Emma Briscoe

    PA – Mel Shelander, J – Bob Wortham

    On April 3, 2007, the plaintiffs were injured when the defendant allegedly ran a stop sign and struck their vehicle. The plaintiffs are suing for mental anguish, medical expenses, lost earnings, disfigurement and pain, plus attorneys' fees.

  • Gulf Health Care Center – Port Arthur

    PA – Clay Dugas, J – Bob Wortham

    While a resident of Gulf Health Care Center- Port Arthur, Mary Bayard had a history of falling. Two years ago, she started complaining of back pain. Now deceased, Bayard's benefactor, Ernest Bayard, has filed a lawsuit on her behalf against Gulf Health Care Center, claiming the healthcare provider failed to prevent her from falling and caused her back injury.

    Ernest Bayard is suing for Mary's pain, mental anguish, impairment and medical expenses.

  • Marilyn J. Waugh vs. A.W. Chesterton et al

    PA – Lou Thompson Black, J – Gary Sanderson

    As a refinery worker, Albert L. Waugh allegedly "inhaled great quantities of asbestos" during his career. Now deceased, his benefactor claims Waugh's death was maliciously caused by dozens of companies.

    On behalf of Albert Waugh, Marilyn J. Waugh is suing A.W. Chesterton, along with 43 other companies, for conspiring to mine, process, sell and distribute asbestos products, suppressing the information pertaining to the fiber's hazardous influence on human health, and purposely inflicting Albert with an asbestos disease.

    The plaintiff is suing for physical pain and suffering in the past and future, mental anguish in the past and future, lost wages, loss of earning capacity, disfigurement in the past and future, physical impairment in the past and future, and past and future medical expenses, including homecare costs.

    The plaintiff also seeks punitive and exemplary damages. "Plaintiff will rely on a fair and impartial jury to provide compensation…," the suit said.

  • Tammy McDaniel vs. Christopher Browning

    PA - Brett Thomas, J - Gary Sanderson

    A Beaumont woman is suing the podiatrist who performed her surgery, claiming the physician failed to warn her he was incompetent and that surgery is dangerous. Suffering from Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, Tammy McDaniel claims her condition is a result of a foot surgery performed by Dr. Christopher Browning more than two years ago, court papers say.

    McDaniel's is suing for past and future medical expenses, pain, mental anguish, impairment, lost earnings, loss of household services and disfigurement, plus exemplary damages and fear of future disease or condition.

  • Judy Harris et al vs. Francisco Torres et al

    PA – John Lane, J – Donald Floyd

    Harris, individually and on behalf of her three minor children, is suing Torres for allegedly negligently causing an automobile collision Oct. 13, 2006. The plaintiffs are suing for past and future mental anguish, medical expenses and pain.

  • Michelle Collier vs. Prestige Gunite Inc. et al

    PA – Rocky Lawdermilk, J – Gary Sanderson

    The plaintiff is suing Prestige Gunite and one of its truck drivers, Manuel Gomez, who allegedly caused an automobile collision July 30, 2007, when he ran a red light and struck the plaintiff's vehicle. The plaintiff is suing for mental anguish, medical expenses, lost earnings, disfigurement and pain, plus attorneys' fees.

  • Carlos Flores, Jr. vs. Maria A. Tibuni

    PA – Jad Harper, J – Milton Shuffield

    On July 14, 2006, the plaintiff was stopped by a flag man of a road construction crew when the defendant, who was allegedly traveling at an unsafe speed, struck the plaintiff's vehicle. The plaintiff is suing for mental anguish, medical expenses, lost earnings, disfigurement and pain, plus attorneys' fees.

  • Ricci Anderson vs. Harvey Gulf International Marine et al

    PA – Sandee Hart, J – Milton Shuffield

    Transferring from one ship to another in unsteady waters, the tugboat seaman Ricci Anderson was climbing aboard "rocked," forcing him to grab a hold of a handrail. In court papers Anderson says the strain of having to reach out and grab the handrail severely injured him.

    Under the Jones Act, he filed suit against the tugboats owner, Harvey Gulf International Marine and the company in charge of the operation, Diamond Offshore Drilling

    Anderson is suing for past and future mental anguish, lost earnings, impairment and disfigurement.

  • Clifford J. Miles vs. Charles Gibbs et al

    PA – John Morgan, J – Gary Sanderson

    Claiming he was "intentionally inflicted" with emotional distress, a Beaumont man has filed suit against Charles E. Gibbs and his insurance agency for "barraging him with racial epithets," court papers say.

    Miles is seeking to recover actual damages including lost wages, expenses incurred as a proximate result of the defendants' tortious conduct, and also mental anguish damages.

  • Tommy Hebert et al vs. AMOCO Oil Co. et al

    PA – Darren Brown, J – Gary Sanderson

    A local couple is pursing a benzene claim against 41 chemical and oil companies, who allegedly failed to adequately test their products before placing them in the stream of commerce. A cancer victim, longtime E.I. DuPont de Nemours employee Tommy Hebert, along with his wife Mary, filed suit against AMCO and 40 other companies. The plaintiffs are suing for punitive damages, mental anguish, medical expenses and loss of consortium.

  • Kevin Heartfield Jr. vs. Hertz Equipment Rental Corp.

    PA - Tommy Yeates, J - Donald Floyd

    An ironworker is suing the Hertz Equipment Rental Corp. after having has hands pinned in a manlift for 20 minutes. Kevin Heartfield, Jr. claims the rented machine was defective. Heartfield is suing for past and future medical expenses, impairment, disfigurement, mental anguish and lost wages.
