Nov. 19

  • Christina Simpson vs. Jared Richards

    PA - John Morgan, J - Bob Wortham

    On June 26 the plaintiff was struck by the defendant when he allegedly failed to stop for stopped traffic.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future mental anguish, medical expenses, impairment and disfigurement, plus all court costs.

  • Jaquelynne Greene vs. Edelmin Davila

    PA - Travis McCall, J - Donald Floyd

    On Dec. 12, 2006, the plaintiff was traveling east on I-10 when he slowed down for traffic and was rear-ended by the defendant.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future mental anguish, medical expenses, impairment and disfigurement, plus all court costs.

  • Felicia Mickens vs. Kelly Sanders

    PA - Todd Elias, J - Donald Floyd

    On Jan. 15, 2007, the plaintiff was traveling on W. Lucas Drive when he was rear-ended by the defendant. The plaintiff was attempting to turn on Highway 69 when the collision occurred.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future mental anguish, medical expenses, impairment and disfigurement, plus all court costs.

  • Foster Stanley vs. Rescar Inc. and Union Pacific Railroad Co.

    PA - Rodney Steinburg, J - Milton Shuffield

    The defendant alleges he was injured while throwing a rail switch on Rescar's premises.

    He faults the defendants for failing to provide him with a safe workplace and is suing for past and future mental anguish, medical expenses, impairment and disfigurement, plus all court costs.

    The plaintiff is suing the defendant in order to recover unpaid invoices. The plaintiff is suing for actual, economic and consequential damages.

  • EMJ Corp. vs. LD Construction

    PA - Eric Lugger, J - Bob Wortham

    On Feb. 2, 2007, LD and EMJ entered into an agreement for the expansion of Parkdale Mall.

    The plaintiff alleges it wrote an erroneous check to the defendant for $22,800. The plaintiff asserts the defendant has refused to return the money, even though the check was written in error.

    The plaintiff is suing for actual and consequential damages, plus all court costs.

  • Daniel Bingham vs. Milestone Operating Inc.

    PA - Lindsey Whisenhant, J - Donald Floyd

    On Sept. 30 the plaintiff, an MO employee, was working on a well when the heater exploded and blew him back 30 feet.

    The plaintiff has filed the injunction to prohibit the defendant from tampering with potential evidence.

  • Brandace Dabney vs. Hills Children Nursery, Inc.

    PA - Kent Johns, J - Bob Wortham

    On behalf of her minor child, the plaintiff is suing the daycare for allegedly failing to prevent her daughter from falling and hitting her head on Dec. 1, 2006.

    The plaintiff is suing for her daughter's past and future mental anguish, medical expenses, impairment and disfigurement, plus all court costs.

  • Temple Willett vs. One Stop Construction and Restoration LLC

    PA - Ian Scharfman, J - Milton Shuffield

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant fired him "without any reason or basis for doing so." The plaintiff says his job as superintendent was secured by a three year contract, yet was fired while only six months into the job.

    The plaintiff is suing for past and future lost wages and mental anguish, plus all court costs.

  • Kelvin Levi vs. Entergy Gulf States and Larry Polk

    PA - Scott Webre, J - Milton Shuffield

    On June 3 the plaintiff was traveling on I-10 in Orange County when he was struck by Polk, an Entergy employee. The suit faults Entergy for negligently hiring and training Polk.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant driver negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future mental anguish, medical expenses, impairment and disfigurement, plus all court costs.

  • Rhonda Robinson et al vs. United States Steel Corp.

    PA - Chris Portner, J - Bob Wortham

    On behalf of the estate of Herman Robinson, the plaintiff has filed an asbestos suit against the defendant, alleging Robinson was exposed to enough asbestos during his employment with the defendant to contract an asbestos illness, which allegedly claimed his life last year.

    The suit says a settlement is in place and is asking the court to approve Rhonda Robinson as independent administratrix of the estate.

  • Nichole Smith vs. Michaels Stores Inc.

    PA - Graig Daugherty, J - Donald Floyd

    On April 28, 2007, the plaintiff was shopping at Michaels crafts store in Beaumont when she tripped over a disassembled shelf unit that was laying in an aisle.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant negligently failed to maintain its premises and is suing for past and future mental anguish, medical expenses, impairment and disfigurement, plus all court costs.

  • J.D. Roberts vs. Compass Bancshares Inc.

    PA - Scott Renick, J - Milton Shuffield

    The plaintiff is seeking an injunction against the defendant in hopes of obtaining security footage that shows a dispute that took place on Aug. 29 between him and a Compass cashier. The dispute is over a cashed check.

  • J.D. Roberts vs. Dream Nails Salon

    PA - Scott Renick, J - Milton Shuffield

    Roberts, who also filed a suit against Compass Bank on the same day, has filed another suit against Dream Nails, alleging on June 21 he had a pedicure that caused him injury. Roberts alleges the chemical used to clean his feet injured him.

    He is suing for past and future mental anguish, medical expenses, lost wages, impairment and disfigurement, plus all court costs.
