New hurricane-related insurance lawsuits filed in Jefferson County


A total of 10 suits related to Hurricane Ike were filed against insurance companies in Jefferson County District Court during the week of March 2 through March 6.

  • Arbie and Helen Adams of 470 East Delaware St. in Beaumont claim Texas Farmers Insurance Company denied their claim for roof, water, wind, foundation and structural damages after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Farmers denied the claim after it assigned two adjusters – Ben Johnson and Lance L. Fleming – to adjust it, according to the complaint. The Adams are represented by J.   • Emma Adams of 4325 Jeanette in Beaumont claims Capitol County Mutual Fire Insurance Agency denied her claim for roof, water, wind, foundation and structural damages after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Capitol denied the claim after it assigned Robert Stewart to adjust it, according to the complaint. Adams is represented by Rene M. Sigman and J.   • Esau Anderson Jr. of 3804 East Sixth Street in Port Arthur claims Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied his claim for roof, water, wind and structural damages after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. TWIA denied the claim after Reggie Warren, vice president of claims at TWIA, hired Huey T. Littleton Claims Service of Texas and an adjuster – Brent Rob Andrews – to adjust it, according to the complaint. Anderson is represented by Michael J. Ramsey and Gregory F. Hartford denied the claims after it assigned three adjusters – John Kelly, Ty Patch and Evelyn Smith – to adjust it, according to the complaint. The Bernards are represented by Michael J.
