A total of nine new lawsuits regarding hurricane damage claims were filed against insurance companies in Jefferson County District Court during the week of June 22 through June 26, 2009.
The following complaints were filed relating to Hurricane Ike:
David Flores and Andrea Alvarado of 2555 Taylor in Beaumont allege Texas Farmers Insurance Company denied their claims for roof, wind, foundation, contents and structural damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. The plaintiffs are represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston and by Michael R. Ramsey and Gregory F. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Herbert and Angela Keys of 3310 French Road in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claims for roof, wind, contents and foundation damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. TWIA denied the claim after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned Boyle International Claim Management Group and adjusters Brian Burnett and Valerie Owen to investigate. Dallbess L. Landry Jr. and Johnnie Landry of 2594 S. Martin Luther King Drive in Port Arthur allege Farmers Insurance Exchange denied their claim for roof, water, wind and structural damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Norman and Donna Abshere of 4525 Stevewood Drive in Port Arthur allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Cheryl Malbreau of 3115 27th St. in Port Arthur alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied her claim for damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Paul Borel of Groves alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied his claim for damages caused to his beach cabin after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Paul Borel says Blake Borel, doing business as Southeast Texas Insurance, failed to provide him with the coverage he requested. Bob K. Monk and Brandon P. Monk of The Monk Law Firm in Port Arthur. Stones Crying Out of 8001 Voth Road in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied its claim for building, structure, contents and equipment damages caused to its building after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Georgious Diamantis of 1547 Ave. C in Beaumont alleges XL Lloyds Insurance Company and Wayne Edwin Rose denied his claim for damages caused to his business after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. According to the complaint, they denied Diamantis' claim because they said he had not procured windstorm insurance, even though Diamantis was led to believe he had insurance coverage for windstorm damages. Johney C. and Mary Marrs of 215 Atlanta Ave. in Nederland allege Fire Insurance Exchange denied their claim for roof, water, wind and structural damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Lane and Maureen Plauche of 7203 Backridge Road in Sabine Pass allege Fire Insurance Exchange denied their claim for roof, water, wind and structural damages caused to their home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13.
