A total of seven new lawsuits against insurance companies regarding hurricane damage claims were filed in Jefferson County District Court during the week of July 20 through July 24.
The following complaints were filed relating to Hurricane Ike:
Richard Carter of Beaumont alleges K&D Insurance Agency denied his claim for damages on Sept. 12. Carter claims he paid a $446 premium to the agency for flood insurance he purchased from defendant and insurance agent Danny Wright, but did not discover his policy was canceled until after he filed his claim. Sharon Carter of 3035 Maple Ave. in Groves alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association improperly paid her claim for damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Carter is represented by Wyatt D. Snider, Jason M. Byrd and Justin G. Sanderson of Snider and Byrd in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B184-529.
Donna Commissiong of 4085 Redwood in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied her claim for damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Dommissiong is represented by Scott Renick of Beaumont and by Kenneth W. Lewis of Bush Lewis in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: D184-547.
Allen and Yolanda Mitchell of 1449 DeQueen Blvd. in Port Arthur allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof, wind, water, foundation, structural and contents damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. TWIA denied their claim after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned Brush Country Claims and adjuster Jimmy Tullis to investigate. The Mitchells are represented by Gregory F. Stephen and Ginny Parker of 2526 Oak South in Nederland allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof, water and wind damages caused to their home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. TWIA denied the claim after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned Legacy Claim Services and Allen Lambert to investigate, according to the complaint. Jason and D'Juana Parks, independent executrix of the estate of Madge Causey Bellue, of 2709 Spurlock Road in Nederland allege Fire Insurance Exchange denied their claim for roof, water, wind, contents and structural damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13.
