Police association sues Bridge City over sergeant position

The Bridge City Police Association is suing the city and Chief of Police Paul Davis, alleging the defendants circumvented the collective bargaining agreement.

The suit was filed July 12 in Orange County District Court.

The suit alleges the city and Chief Davis violated the agreement on June 21 by posting a job opening for a sergeant's potion and requiring that the applicant have five years of experience instead of the mandatory two years required by the agreement.

The association is seeking a restraining order to force the defendants to abide by the agreement.

The association is represented by attorney Mitch Adams of the Combined Law Enforcement Agencies of Texas.

The case has been assigned to Judge Buddy Hahn, 260th Judicial District.

Case No. D-100358-c
