A Jefferson County man has filed suit against his former employer, alleging the employer dropped a boat on his leg.
Ricky Alan Hill claims defendant James McKellar hired him to clear land McKellar owned in Nome.
As part of his duties, Hill tried to help move a boat on McKellar's land, according to the complaint filed Aug. 23 in Jefferson County District Court.
"Chris McKellar pushed the boat and a landing gear failed," the suit states. "The boat fell on Ricky Alan Hill trapping him underneath."
Because of the incident, Hill had to undergo surgery to fix his left leg and experienced physical pain, suffering and anguish, the complaint says.
In addition, he lost earnings and suffered an impairment or disability, he claims.
Hill alleges negligence against McKellar, saying McKellar failed to exercise a proper degree of care and failed to properly supervise his employees, according to the complaint.
In his complaint, Hill seek a judgment within the jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre-judgment interest at the maximum rate allowed by law, post-judgment interest at the legal rate, costs and other relief the court deems just.
Scott Renick of Beaumont will be representing him.
The case has been assigned to Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court.
