Latest Hurricane Ike-related insurance suits filed in Jefferson County

A total of 11 new lawsuits against insurance companies over hurricane damage claims were filed in Jefferson County District Court, Oct. 4-15.

The following complaints were filed Oct. 4-8:

  • Eddie Hill of 4345 Detroit St. in Beaumont alleges State Farm Lloyds denied his claim for damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Hill will be represented by Rocky Lawdermilk of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B188-550.

  • Lorine Price of 898 Grand St. in Beaumont alleges Capitol County Mutual Fire Insurance Company denied her claim for damages caused to her home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Price will be represented by Rocky Lawdermilk of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B188-528.

  • Shirley Sellers of 6387 Val St. in Groves alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association failed to properly adjust her claim for damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Sellers will be represented by Wyatt D. Snider, Jason M. Byrd, Justin G. Sanderson and Russell W. Heald of Snider and Byrd in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B188-571.

  • Dwight and Lucy Thomas of 2627 Thomas Blvd. in Port Arthur allege Texas Farmers Insurance Company denied their claim for structure, roof, water and wind damages caused to their home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The Thomases will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn and Stacy L. Little of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: D188-529.

    The following complaints were filed Oct. 11-15:

  • A Lisotta Mini Store All Ltd. of 6045 College St. in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied its claim for structure, roof, water and wind damages caused to its property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied A Lisotta's claim after it assigned adjuster Bill Jeffries to investigate, according to the complaint. A Lisotta will be represented by Michael R. Ramsey of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: E188-604.

  • James P. Barker Jr. and Kathy Barker of 2580 Harrison St. in Beaumont allege State Farm Lloyds failed to properly adjust and denied a portion of their claim for roof and water damages caused to their home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The Barkers will be represented by Carlos E. Solis and Paul A. Smith Jr. of Solis and Smith in San Antonio and by Danny R. Scott Jr. of the Law Office of Danny R. Scott Jr. in Beaumont.   • Michael Deasy of 6763 Rainbow Lane in Port Arthur alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association refused to pay his claim for damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Deasy will be represented by Riley L. Burnett Jr. and Caryn M. Papantonakis of Clark, Burnett, Love and Lee in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: A188-611.

  • Jaydran and Desiree Edwards of 2760 Duncan Drive in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for contents, roof, structural, water and wind damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied the Edwards' claim after it assigned Mason Catastrophe Claim Services and adjuster Mark Aitchison to investigate, according to the complaint. The Edwards will be represented by Gregory F. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: D188-602.

  • Jacqueline Garner of 2275 Monica St. in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied her claim for contents, structure, roof, water and wind damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied Garner's claim after it assigned adjusters Mason Catastrophe Claim Services and Mark Aitchison to investigate, according to the compliant. Garner will be represented by Michael R. Ramsey of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: E188-603.

  • Ramon and Imelda Hernandez of 1930 Perry Ave. in Groves allege Fire Insurance Exchange denied their claim for contents, roof, structural, water and wind damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The Hernandezes will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn and Stacy L. Little of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: E188-610.

  • Phillip and Latricia Williams of 4040 Blackwell Lane in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for contents, roof, structural, water and wind damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied the Williams' claim after it assigned adjusters Legacy Claim Services and Allen Lambert to investigate, according to the complaint. The Williams will be represented by Michael R. Ramsey of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: A188-601.
