Latest Hurricane Ike-related insurance suits filed in Jefferson County

A total of 15 new lawsuits against insurance companies over Hurricane Ike damage claims were filed in Jefferson County District Court, Nov. 8-19, 2010.

The following complaints were filed:

  • Rosalinda Flores and Ramon Torres of 3983 15th St. in Port Arthur alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied his claim for contents, structure, roof, water and wind damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied their claim after assigning Walker Group to investigate it. Flores and Torres will be represented by Gregory F. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont.   • Alfonso Gonzales of 5252 13th St. in Port Arthur alleges National Lloyds Insurance Company denied a portion of his claim for damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Gonzales will be represented by Rocky Lawdermilk of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: D188-761.

  • Michael and Lawana McClelland of 8385 Evangeline Lane in Beaumont allege Hartford Lloyd's Insurance Company denied their claim for dwelling and contents damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Hartford denied their claim after it assigned adjuster David Tyson Young to investigate it. Jason M. Byrd and Russell W. Heald of Snider and Byrd in Beaumont will be representing the McClellands.   • Francisco Moreno of 3205 Woodlawn in Groves claims Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied a portion of his claim for damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Moreno will be represented by Rocky Lawdermilk of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B188-760.

  • Jean A. Pollard of 3549 Thomas Blvd. in Port Arthur alleges Fire Insurance Exchange denied her claim for structure, roof, water and wind damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Pollard will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: B188-749.

  • Harold G. Scheer of 2985 Old Grayburg Road in Nome alleges Texas Farm Bureau Underwriters denied his claim for contents, roof, structural, water and wind damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Scheer will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston and by David P. Wilson and Matthew C. Matheny of Provost Umphrey in Beaumont.   • Vertie Thaxton of 3339 Thomas Blvd. in Port Arthur alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied her claim for damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Thaxton will be represented by Clint Brasher and Joe Muckleroy of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: A188-769.

  • Kenny and Tracy Allen of 124 Montclair Drive in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof and water damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The Allens will be represented by Carlos E. Solis and Paul A. Smith Jr. of Solis and Smith in San Antonio and by Danny R. Scott Jr. of Beaumont.   • Francisco Javier and Maria Elena Galvan of 3500 Seventh Ave. in Port Arthur allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for contents, structure, roof, water and wind damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied the claim after assigning Legacy Claim Services and adjusters John Carpenter and Steve Cordina to investigate. The Galvans will be represented by Michael R.   • Dorothy and Roy Gibbs of 4325 Fonville Ave. in Beaumont allege Texas Farmers Insurance Company denied their claim for damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008.   • Bernice Gradney of 5961 Candelite Drive in Beaumont alleges Fire Insurance Exchange denied her claim for contents, roof, structural, water and wind damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008.   • Gary and Janis Long of 3149 Canterbury Lane in Port Neches allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for contents, roof, structure, water and wind damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied the claim after assigning The Littleton Group and adjusters James Bart Wiley and James Romero to investigate. The Longs will be represented by Michael R.   • Arthur and Sonja Miles of 2990 Concord Road in Beaumont allege Fire Insurance Exchange denied their claim for content, roof, structure, water and wind damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008.
