Jury selection is underway in a case alleging Re/Max First real estate company wrongfully terminated its contract with former employee Barry Neil Sanders.

Sanders filed suit against BHH, doing business as Re/Max, on Oct. 2, 2007, in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on March 1, 2007, Sanders signed an employment agreement with Re/Max to become the company's business director for a period of one year.

However, Sanders was terminated 18 days later "without cause," the suit alleges.

Sanders will try to convince jurors that Re/Max breached its contract.

He is hoping to recover the wages lost because of the termination, plus $40,000 in attorney's fees.

Beaumont attorney Giles Kibbe of Weller, Green, Toups & Terrell represents him.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, is presiding over the trial.
