A total of eight new lawsuits against insurance companies over Hurricane Ike damage claims have been filed in Jefferson County District Court, March 7-11, 2011.
The following complaints were filed:
Jolene Bennett of 3745 Treadway Road in Beaumont alleges Texas Farmers Insurance Company minimized her claim for damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Texas Farmers denied Bennett's claim after it assigned Catastrophe Response Team and adjuster Jerry Barclay to investigate, according to the complaint. Bennett will be represented by John Pat Parsons of Lindsay, Lindsay and Parsons in Beaumont and by David Cade Bernsen of The Bernsen Law Firm in Beaumont. Odis Briggs and Betty Jones of 736 W. 14th St. in Port Arthur alleges Fire Insurance Exchange denied their claim for foundation, roof, structural, water and wind damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Briggs and Jones will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: A189-577.
Beatrice Chargois of 4415 South Fifth St. in Beaumont allege Republic Lloyds minimized their claim for damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Republic Lloyds denied Chargois' claim after it assigned IAS Claim Services and adjuster Kimberly McLarry to investigate, according to the complaint. Chargois will be represented by Lindsay, Lindsay and Parsons in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: E189-576.
Robert C. Davis of 9070 Riggs St. in Beaumont alleges Voyager Indemnity Insurance Company minimized his claim for damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Voyager denied the claim after assigning Southwest Adjusters of Texas to investigate, according to the complaint. Ronald Kelley of 2295 Angelina St. in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied his claim for roof and water damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Kelley will be represented by Paul A. Smith Jr. and Carlos E. Solis of Solis and Smith in San Antonio and by Danny R. Scott Jr. of the Law Office of Danny R. Scott Jr. in Beaumont. Obetta Milo of 4048 Third St. in Port Arthur alleges Farmers Insurance Exchange denied his claim for structure, foundation, roof, water and wind damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Ricardo and Lillian Pizarro of 8280 Westgate Drive in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for foundation, structure, roof, water and wind damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Yvonne Trahan of 2625 15th St. in Port Arthur alleges State Farm Lloyds minimized her claim for damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. State Farm Lloyds denied Trahan's claim after it assigned State Farm Insurance Centralized Catastrophe Services and adjuster Cooper Bennett to investigate, according to the complaint.
