Latest Hurricane Ike-related insurance suits filed in Jefferson County

A total of six new lawsuits were filed against insurance companies over Hurricane Ike damage claims in Jefferson County District Court, June 6-10,2011.

The following complaints were filed:

  • Thaddeus and Dora Como of 1108 E. 17th St. in Port Arthur allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied a portion of their claim for roof and water damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The Comos will be represented by Carlos E. Solis and Paul A. Smith Jr. of Solis and Smith in San Antonio and by Danny R. Scott Jr. of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B190-214.

  • Charles and Margaret Jones of 312 Ninth St. in Port Arthur allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof and water damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The Jones will be represented by Carlos E. Solis and Paul A. Smith Jr. of Solis and Smith in San Antonio and by Danny R. Scott Jr. of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: A190-215.

  • Julia Laday of 1709 E. Ninth St. in Port Arthur alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied a portion of her claim for roof and water damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Laday will be represented by Paul A. Smith Jr. and Carlos E. Solis of Solis and Smith in San Antonio and by Danny R. Scott Jr. of the Law Office of Danny R. Scott Jr. in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B190-216.

  • Darrel Martin Sr. and Mira Martin of 2399 Lavender St. in Port Arthur allege Farmers Insurance Exchange minimized their claim for wind damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Farmers minimized the claim after adjusters Catastrophe Response Team and Seann Clifford were assigned to investigate, according to the complaint. The Martins will be represented by John Pat Parsons of Lindsay, Lindsay and Parsons in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: E190-239.

  • Gerald Ulmer of 4795 Elmhurst Dr. in Beaumont alleges State Farm Lloyds minimized his claim for damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. State Farm denied Ulmer's claim after it assigned State Farm Centralized Catastrophe Services and adjuster Travis Carter to investigate, according to the complaint. Ulmer will be represented by John Pat Parsons of Lindsay, Lindsay and Parsons in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: A190-231.

  • Leo and Exie Williams of 1815 E. 15th St. in Port Arthur allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied a portion of their claim for roof and water damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The Williams will be represented by Carlos E. Solis and Paul A. Smith Jr. of Solis and Smith in San Antonio and by Danny R. Scott Jr. of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: E190-213.
