Two years ago, Carmen Torres was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Juan Castro when he allegedly disregarded a stop signal and caused a collision.
Claiming he negligently failed to obey traffic laws, she filed suit against him on June 27 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, on July 12, 2009, Torres and Castro were traveling east on State Highway 87 and nearing the intersection at Rosedale when he "disregarded a stop and go signal and collided with another vehicle."
The suit also alleges Castro negligently failed to keep a proper lookout.
The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.
Houston attorney Cynthia Frederick represents her.
Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, has been assigned to the case.
