Passenger sues driver after collision

Claiming he was a "negligent-free passenger," Troy Moak has filed suit against Ira Bean for causing an automobile collision two years ago.

The suit was filed Sept. 12 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Sept. 13, 2009, "Moak was a negligent-free passenger in a vehicle ... operated by Bean."

They were traveling west on College Street when the vehicle "was struck in the driver's side door by another vehicle," the suit states.

The plaintiff alleges Bean negligently failed to make sure an intersection was clear before entering. The suit also accuses him of negligently failing to keep a proper lookout.

Moak is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Charlton Hornsby represents him.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
