Woman sued for disregarding traffic light, causing collision

Allen Ayres has filed suit against fellow Beaumont resident Amber Baer, who allegedly disregarded a traffic light and slammed into his vehicle.

The suit was filed Sept. 14 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Oct. 11, 2009, Ayres was traveling on Laurel Street in Beaumont when "Baer disregarded her traffic light at the intersection of Laurel and 11th Street, slamming into plaintiff, causing his vehicle to flip."

In addition to failing to obey traffic laws, the suit alleges Baer negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and maintain control of her vehicle.

The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Jonathan Juhan represents him.

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
