Port Arthur resident Donald Crane is suing his insurance company, Farmers Texas County Mutual, for underinsured motorist benefits.
The suit was filed Sept. 20 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, on Feb. 3, 2009, Crane was traveling west on Liberty Street in Beaumont when Elaine Smith made a left turn from the wrong lane and struck his vehicle.
In his suit, Crane says the insurance proceeds he received from Smith's insurer were insufficient to cover his damages, prompting him to make a policy claim to Farmers for underinsured benefits.
Crane claims he hurt his neck in the incident and is entitled to benefits under the policy for his medical expenses, pain and mental anguish.
Attorney Trenton Bond of the Beaumont law firm Portner Bond represents him.
Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
