E-C Transportation sued for employee's collision

Beaumont resident Jack Nicholas has filed suit against E-C Transportation and one of its employees, Jimmy Lonnett, who allegedly caused a collision last month.

The suit was filed Sept. 21 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Aug. 15, 2011, Nicholas was traveling south on Highland Avenue in Beaumont when Lonnett, while in the course and scope of his employment with E-C, made an unsafe lane change and struck his vehicle.

The suit accuses Lonnett of negligently failing to keep a proper lookout and holds E-C responsible for hiring him.

The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Clay Dugas represents him.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, has been assigned to the case.
