Three car pileup results in suit

Beaumont local Dodie Harris is suing Lawrence Balka, also a Beaumont resident, for causing a three-car automobile collision nearly two years ago.

The suit was filed Jan. 6 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Feb. 16, 2010, Harris was traveling on Fourth Street and was the lead vehicle stopped, waiting for another vehicle to turn into a private drive, when Balka struck the vehicle in front of him, pushing it into Harris.

The suit faults Balka for negligently failing to control his speed and keep a proper lookout.

The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Jonathan Juhan represents her.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, is assigned to the case.
