Seaman injured while moving mattress sues

Itkin

While moving a mattress, seaman Carol Kennedy injured her back.

Alleging she was not properly supervised, Kennedy filed suit against Transocean Deepwater and Aramark Corp. on June 21 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on April 13 Kennedy was employed by Aramark and was assigned to a vessel managed by the defendants when she injured her back while "moving heavy mattresses."

The suit alleges the defendants negligently failed to supervise the crew and provide adequate safety equipment.

The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Houston attorney Cory Itkin of Arnold & Itkin represents her.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, is assigned to the case.
