A Jefferson County woman claims she suffered physical pain and mental anguish after a driver failed to keep a proper lookout and struck her vehicle.
Kerri Michelle Gonzales filed a lawsuit Oct. 4 in Jefferson County District Court against Dorf Edward Withers.
Gonzales claims she was traveling in Jefferson County when Withers struck her vehicle.
Because of the collision, Gonzales incurred medical costs, lost earnings and her earning capacity, suffered physical impairment and physical disfigurement and endured emotional distress, according to the complaint.
Withers negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove too fast, failed to yield the right-of-way, lacked proper control and failed to timely apply her brakes, the suit states.
In her complaint, Gonzales is seeking a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.
John Werner of Reaud, Morgan and Quinn in Beaumont will be representing her.
The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.
