$100K suit brought against Martin Transport for trucker’s collision

Seeking more than $100,000 in damages, area resident Armond Lewis is suing Martin Transport for injuries he received in an automobile collision allegedly caused by Willie Hankins.

The suit was filed Nov. 1 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Sept. 10 Lewis was injured in an automobile collision somewhere in Port Arthur. A vehicle being driven by Hankins and owned by Martin Transport allegedly caused the collision.

The suit does not state exactly where or how the incident occurred.

However, the suit does allege Hankins negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, apply his brakes in a timely manner, change lanes when safe to do so and swerve to avoid the collision.

Lewis is holding Martin Transport liable for Hankins’ alleged negligence.

The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, in an amount to exceed $100,000.

Bellaire attorney Jeffrey Stern represents him.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, is assigned to the case.
