Southern Transportation sued for driver’s collision

Beaumont local Earnestine Smith is suing Southern Transportation for injuries she received in an automobile collision two years ago. 

The suit was filed Dec. 11 in Jefferson County District Court and also names Robert Lehmann and Melissa Alaniz as defendants.

According to the lawsuit, on Dec. 13, 2010, Smith was at a downtown Beaumont intersection when Lehmann, an employee of Southern Transportation and/or Alaniz, made an illegal turn and struck her vehicle.

Lehmann was in the course and scope of his employment at the time of the incident.

The suit accuses him of negligently failing to keep a proper lookout.

The suit holds the other defendants liable for his actions and accuses them of negligent entrustment.

The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, disfigurement and lost wages,

She is represented by Beaumont attorney Ryan White of Loncar & Associates.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, is assigned to the case.
