Area resident Angel Miles is suing Timothy Verdon and Donna Spencer Verdon for alleged sexual abuse that occurred nearly five years ago.
The suit was filed Feb. 28 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, from May 2008 to July 2008, Timothy sexually abused Miles. Miles was a guest at the defendants’ residence at the time of the incident.
The suit alleges that Donna knew or should have known about the alleged sexual abuse that was occurring but did nothing to stop or prevent Timothy’s actions. She also failed to report the suspected abuse as required by law.
The defendants controlled the premises and failed to eliminate the risk of harm, the suit states.
“By reason of the above and foregoing the defendant is strictly liable for the injuries to the minor plaintiff,” the suit states.
The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain and disfigurement.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, is assigned to the case.
