American Express sues Beaumont resident over past due account

Seeking to collect on a past due account, American Express Centurion Bank has filed suit against Beaumont local Regina Montes.

The suit was filed Jan. 25 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, the parties entered into a card member agreement. The balance owing on the account is $12,538.49.

The suit does not state when the agreement was agreed upon.

“Defendant has failed to repay all of the advances made under the agreement,” the suit states.

The suit says the lender has made demands for payment but the defendant has refused to pay the balance owing.

American Express is suing for actual damages, interest, court costs and attorney’s fees.

Taylor attorney Joseph O’Bell of Zwicker & Associates represents the plaintiff.

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, is assigned to the case.
