Two men blame intoxicated driver for causing collision

Two men have filed suit against the driver who they claim was intoxicated when he slammed into the back of the vehicle in which they were riding.

Craig Lee Odom and Claude Wells claim Odom had stopped his pickup truck at a red light in the 5400 block of Avenue A in Beaumont on May 14, 2012, when defendant Wesley Tyler Whitlock, who was driving a pickup truck owned by his employer, defendant Emerson Process Management, struck Odom’s truck. At the time of the collision, Wells was riding as a passenger in the vehicle.

Because of the collision, the plaintiffs suffered injuries, incurred medical costs, lost wages, experienced pain and suffering and endured mental anguish, according to the complaint filed Feb. 14 in Jefferson County District Court. They also suffered physical impairment and physical disfigurement, the suit states.

In their complaint, Odom and Wells are seeking actual and exemplary damages, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Terry Bryant and Gregg Anderson of Houston will be representing them.

The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court.

Case No. B193-942
