While pushing her grocery cart down the aisle at Kroger, Jennifer Fontenot slipped and fell.
On Feb. 27 she filed suit against Kroger Texas and Kenneth Greer in Jefferson County District Court, alleging the defendants left a puddle of liquid unattended on the floor.
According to the lawsuit, on Aug. 6, 2012, Fontenot was shopping at a Kroger in Beaumont. She was pushing her cart down the alcoholic beverage aisle when she stepped into an unmarked liquid puddle, causing her to slip and fall.
The suit accuses Kroger of negligently failing to warn her of the danger and failing to inspect and maintain the premises.
Greer, the store manager at the time, negligently failed to place caution signs around the puddle and discover the dangerous condition, the suit alleges.
The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment and lost wages.
Beaumont attorney Trenton Bond of Portner Bond represents her.
Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, is assigned to the case.
