A property owner is suing former beauty supply owners for rent owed through 2015.

Mohamed Aref filed a lawsuit Jan. 30 in the Jefferson County District Court against Ghandi Zaben, doing business as Oprah Beauty Supply, and Hassen Zaben, alleging they owe him rent.

The lawsuit states the two signed a lease agreement mandating they pay $2,000 a month from October 2013 through September 2015. Only three rent payments have been paid and the space has been vacated, according to the complaint.

Aref is seeking $42,000 for rent owed, pre-judgment and post-judgment interest, plus court costs.

He is being represented by John Pat Parsons of Lindsay, Lindsay & Parsons.
