A nurse is suing over claims a hospital terminated her employment due to race.

Shirley Richard filed a lawsuit Feb. 13 in the U.S. Court for the Southern District of Texas Houston Division against Clear Lake Regional Medical Center, alleging race discrimination.

According to the complaint, Richard was employed by Clear Lake Regional Medical Center as a registered nurse from Feb. 5, 2005, until Sept. 11, 2012, when she was unlawfully terminated.

Richard alleges race was a determining factor in the termination of her employment, according to the lawsuit.

Richard is seeking lost past wages and future wages, plus costs.

She is being represented in the case by attorney Gordon R. Cooper II of Cooper & Cooper.
