A worker is suing over injuries he allegedly suffered while working on an oil rig.

Cordell St. Julien filed suit on Feb. 18 in the Galveston Division of the U.S. Court for the Southern District of Texas, naming Hornbeck Offshore Services and BP America as the defendants.

St. Julien says in February 2013 he was working on a vessel owned by Hornbeck when he was injured. He claims he was injured while removing rigging from a large pipe-like structure on the deck of the boat.

St. Julien claims the sea conditions that day were too rough for the work to be performed safely and the work should have been postponed.

St. Julien claims water was rushing onto the deck which created a slippery condition on which he slipped, fell and was injured. He states the work should have halted given the sea conditions.

He accuses Hornbeck of negligently requiring the work to continue, creating an unreasonably dangerous working environment.

St. Julien is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages.

He is being represented by attorney Marc Evan Kutner and Spagnoletti & Co. in Houston.
