Two sue driver after sustaining injuries in collision

Two people are suing the driver of a car after they were injured in a vehicle collision.


Aalia Merchant and Mubeen Merchant filed a lawsuit Feb. 18 in the Jefferson County District Court against Casey Aron Chesnutt, citing negligence.

The lawsuit states the two were traveling on FM 365 on March 1, 2013, when Chesnutt attempted to cross the intersection and collided with the Merchant vehicle.

Aalia Merchant suffered injuries to her neck, chest, nose, face, finger and body and Mubeen suffered injuries to his neck, shoulder, left knee, ribs and body, according to the complaint.

The Merchants are seeking damages as set by the court, plus court costs.

They are being represented by Tom Oxford of Waldman Smallwood P.C.
