Kemper Insurance sued by Texas resident

A Texas resident is suing her insurance company seeking uninsured motorist coverage.


Mary Flanigan-Sears filed a lawsuit March 17 in the Galveston County Court against Unitrin, doing business as Kemper Insurance. 


The complaint states on March 31, 2012, Mary Flanigan-Sears was injured while sitting inside her vehicle when an uninsured driver, Kevin Joyner, struck the vehicle. At the time of the accident, the plaintiff was insured by the defendant, including uninsured motorist coverage, according to the complaint.


The plaintiff states she is seeking uninsured motorist benefits from the defendant. The plaintiff is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages.


She is being represented in the case by attorney Craig W. Carlson of The Carlson Law Firm.
