Texas runoff candidates to speak at forum

AUSTIN, Texas (Legal Newsline) – Two weeks from now, Texas candidates embattled in primary runoff elections will speak at a forum hosted by the Texas Business Roundtable.

The forum, which focuses primarily on Texas House runoff candidates, will be held April 7 at the Thompson Auditorium in the Texas Medical Association building  in Austin.

The registration deadline is Friday.

The event will feature presentations from candidates who have made the primary runoff. The focus is on House races because the January forum schedule did not allow for those, according to TBR.

As of March 24, the candidates confirmed to speak are:

-Railroad Commission – Ryan Sitton;

-SD 2 Bob Deuell;

-HD 10 John Wray;

-HD 16 Will Metcalf;

-HD 53 Rob Henneke;

-HD 53 Andrew Murr;

-HD 58 DeWayne Burns;

-HD 66 Glenn Callison;

-HD 76 Norma Chavez;

-HD 102 Linda Koop;

-HD 108 Morgan Meyer;

-HD 129 Sheryl Berg;

-HD 129 Dennis Paul;

-HD 132 Ann Hodge; and

-HD 132 Mike Schofield.

TBR is comprised of the chief executives and government affairs staff of 22 Texas professional, business, and trade associations.

According to the TBR website, the role of Roundtable is to foster mutual understanding and collaboration between the business community and the legislature on policy questions of vital importance to all Texans. The group accomplishes this, in part, by providing a forum in which the business community and state leaders can meet and discuss issues of common concern.
