Two passengers who were inside a vehicle when it was involved in a crash are now suing the vehicle's driver.
Stevy Diniz and Ramnath Sakhalkar filed a lawsuit April 3 in the Jefferson County District Court against Calitto Cardoz, citing negligence and gross negligence.
The lawsuit states Diniz and Ramnath were passengers in Cardoz’ vehicle while she was traveling west on Interstate 10 in Jefferson County on May 19, 2012.
According to the suit, Cardoz fell asleep at the wheel, veered off the highway and flipped the vehicle. The two passengers sustained both physical and mental injuries, the complaint said.
Diniz and Sakhalkar are seeking damages between $200,000 and $1 million.
