Sturm charles

A Harris County man is suing over claims he was fired based on his age.

Odell Hyden filed a lawsuit May 30 in the Southern District Court of Texas Houston Division against Hagemeyer North America Inc., citing age discrimination.

According to the complaint, Hyden was a salesman for Hagemeyer and its predecessors for more than 50 years, but in recent years had begun to experience ageist remarks from superiors until his employment was terminated April 3, 2013, allegedly for poor performance.

Hyden says the real reason was his age, and the defendant is accused of age discrimination, retaliation and violations of the Texas Commission on Human Rights Act.

Hyden is seeking damages, loss of earnings, loss of benefits and attorney's fees.

He is being represented in the case by attorney Charles A. Sturm of Sturm Law PLLC.
