Port Arthur accident results in lawsuit

Three Jefferson County residents say they suffered injuries when a driver allegedly rear-ended them as they were yielding at a stop sign.

Elnora Grant, Wanda Parker and Dorothy Francis say they were riding in a vehicle that had stopped at a sign at Jimmy Johnson Boulevard and Anchorage Drive in Port Arthur on July 31, 2013. Suddenly, defendant Aurora Trevino struck their vehicle from behind, according to the complaint filed Sept. 16 in Jefferson County District Court. The plaintiffs blame Trevino for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to control her speed and failed to timely apply the brakes.

In their complaint, the plaintiffs seek a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of the court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Attorneys J. Trenton Bond and Chris M. Portner of Portner and Bond in Beaumont, will represent the plaintiffs.
