Accident on private road injures minor, suit claims

A Galveston County woman is suing over claims a minor was injured in a collision on a private drive off state Highway 6.

Amber Janak, individually and as next friend of Samantha Lynn Votaw, a minor, filed a lawsuit Oct. 7 in Galveston County District Court against Kaye Darla White, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Votaw was a passenger in a vehicle on a private drive off state Highway 6 on Nov. 21, 2012, when White turned left onto the drive and failed to yield right of way, causing a collision. White is accused of negligence in driving too fast, failing to keep a proper lookout and failing to avoid a collision. The complaint states Votaw sustained injuries requiring extensive medical treatment and resulting in permanent bodily impairment.

Janak seeks damages. She is represented by attorney E.A. "Trey" Apffel III of Apffel Law Firm in League City.
