HOUSTON — Two fired workers are suing are suing their former employer, alleging violations of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act.

William Whitehead, 65, and Donald Carney, 59, filed a lawsuit Feb. 4 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Hydril Company, doing business as Tenaris Hydril.

According to the complaint, both plaintiffs were field service coordinators for Tenaris, and there was a third coordinator, Travis Brashear, a much younger man. Whitehead had worked for Tenaris for 15 years and Carney had worked for Tenaris for 33 years, the suit states.

The lawsuit states Whitehead and Carney were fired from their positions Feb. 16, 2015, due to them no longer being “long-term” employees and that both were within at least 10 years of retirement. Brashear, 39, was not fired, the suit states.

The suit says both of the plaintiffs' replacements were in their 20s and 30s.

The plaintiffs seek a jury trial, damages for discrimination, attorney fees and court costs. They are represented by attorneys Charles H. Peckham and Mary A. Martin of Peckham PLLC in Houston.
