Sisters alllege Jefferson County motorist caused crash that led to injuries

Car accident 18

BEAUMONT — Two Jefferson County sisters are suing a Beaumont motorist, alleging the defendant's negligence led to a vehicle crash that injured the plaintiffs.

Rosio Maldonado and Maria Maldonado filed a lawsuit June 24 in Jefferson County District Court against Rosalyn Denise Lacey of Beaumont, alleging negligence in violating state law and or local regulations.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 17, 2015, Rosio Maldonado and Maria Maldonado were traveling at Lucas and Pine Burr Boulevard, Beaumont, when suddenly Lacey failed to control the speed of her vehicle and struck the rear end of the plaintiffs' car, causing them to sustain personal injuries.

The suit says the Maldonados have suffered and will continue to suffer physical pain and mental anguish, physical impairment, disfigurement, loss of income and medical expenses. The plaintiffs allege Lacey failed to keep proper lookout, failed to timely stop the vehicle, failed to maintain control of the vehicle and failed to exercise ordinary care.

The Maldonados seek a trial by jury, judgment between $200,000 and $1 million, pre- and post-judgment interest, all court costs and all other relief to which they are justly entitled. They are represented by attorney Wade D. Moriarty of The Crim Law Firm PC in Houston.
