HOUSTON – A lifestyle magazine publisher alleges that his competitor defamed him in an e-mail written last year.

In court papers filed Oct. 6 in the Harris County 190th District Court, Martin Gondra, who publishes Luxcior Magazine, accuses Alejandro Martinez, the publisher of Local Houston Magazine, of composing the purported email in October 2015.

Gondra asserts that he has never met Martinez. According to the plaintiff, the email said that he and his magazine are “deceiving clients and media buyers, making them believe they print this glamorous publication with a high circulation.”

The aforementioned email added that Luxcior fabricated their production figures to which the original petition denies.

“The foregoing statements are false and made with actual malice or were negligently made,” the suit says.

Consequently, Gondra seeks unspecified monetary damages.

He is represented by attorney Richard E. Brown of the law firm Richard E. Brown Attorney at Law, P.L.L.C. in Sugar Land.
