No warning signs for boxes in aisle, alleges slip & fall suit against Family Dollar

Slip01

BEAUMONT – A lack of warning signs for boxes in an aisle of a Family Dollar store allegedly caused a Beaumont woman to slip and fall nearly two years ago.

Seeking up to $200,000 in damages, Tammie Polk filed suit against Family Dollar on Nov. 27 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Dec. 28, 2015, Polk was shopping at the Family Dollar on Magnolia Avenue “when she slipped and fell due to a box(es) which were in the aisle.”

“There were no warning signs in or around the area,” the suit states, adding that Family Dollar owed shoppers a duty to warn and protect them from dangerous conditions.

Polk is suing for her pas and future medical expenses, lost earnings, impairment, pain, mental anguish and disfigurement.

Beaumont attorney Jonathan Juhan represents her.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, has been assigned to the case.
