HOUSTON – A man alleges he needed an amputation because of a breach of a standard in care at a medical facility.

Robert Jones filed a complaint on Dec. 22, 2017, in the Harris County District Court against Brian Tremaine MD, Eagle's Trace Home Care LLC and Erickson Living Management LLC alleging medical negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was admitted to Houston Methodist West Hospital in December 2015 for a urinary tract infection. The suit states his international normalized ratio (INR) levels were checked daily while there because he takes an anticoagulant medication. The suit states he was transferred to Eagle's Trace Home Care in January 2016 and Tremaine was his attending physician while there.

He alleges that while at Eagle's Trace Home Care, his INR levels went above what is considered a therapeutic level to prevent deep vein thrombosis and/or pulmonary embolisms.

The plaintiff alleges that in Jan. 21, 2016, he underwent an above-the-knee amputation of his right leg because of a large thrombus.

The plaintiff holds Tremaine, Eagle's Trace Home Care LLC and Erickson Living Management LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly breached the standard of care.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million and such other relief to which he may show himself justly entitled. He is represented by Craig Lewis and Aaron J. Adams of The Lewis Law Firm in Houston.
