HOUSTON – A Harris County law firm is facing a legal malpractice case from two clients who allege they did not receive the money awarded to them from a lawsuit.
Merrie Sheltz and Robert Sheltz Jr. filed a complaint on June 20 in the Harris County District Court against The Guidry Law Firm and Kerry Michael Guidry alleging negligence and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs retained the defendants' services to represent them in an underlying lawsuit in Harris County, which was resolved in November 2014. They allege they have not received the funds awarded to them. The suit states a check was issued in their name for $46,548.49 in February 2015.
The plaintiffs hold The Guidry Law Firm and Guidry responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to diligently represent them, failed to protect their interest and failed to preserve their claims, rights and defenses.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendants, jointly and severally, with interest, costs and such other and further relief to which plaintiffs may be entitled. They are represented by George E. Cire Jr. of Cire Law Firm in Houston.
