HOUSTON – The widow of a worker who recently perished after being exposed to a large steam release at a coal-fired power plant in Kansas has initiated wrongful death litigation against several companies, per recent Harris County District Court records.

In a lawsuit filed on June 27 in the Harris County 234th District Court, Kelli Most pins Jesse Henson’s death earlier this month on Team Industrial Services, Inc.; Emerson Electric Co.; Emerson Process Management Valve Automation, Inc.; and Siemens Corp.

Court papers explain that a Unit 3 turbine at the Jeffrey Energy Center in St. Mary’s, Kan. on June 4 failed and caused the release in question.

“The decedent was exposed to the steam release and suffered severe burns that caused him to endure a horrific death,” the original petition says.

According to the Wichita Eagle, Henson was one of two employees who died from the incident. The facility, which is Kansas’s largest power plant, is purportedly shut down.

The Emerson defendants and Siemens reportedly manufactured, designed, and sold the turbine while TIS is believed to have performed repairs, maintenance, and inspection work on the machine prior to Jesse Henson’s passing.

Consequently, Most seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

Jason A. Itkin of the law firm Arnold & Itkin LLP in Houston serves as her lead counsel.
