HOUSTON – A nurse allegedly injured on the job claims she was denied benefits from her employer and insurance company for the incident.

Raeann Rodriguez filed a complaint on July 12 in the Harris County District Court against Texas Children's Hospital and Property & Casualty Insurance Co. of Hartford alleging negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 10, 2014, she was seriously injured when she was attacked by an unrestrained psychiatric patient while in the course and scope of her employment with defendant Texas Children's Hospital. She alleges the defendants denied benefits to her at the time of injury and thereafter and was later terminated because of her disabilities that resulted from the incident.

The plaintiff holds Texas Children's Hospital and Property & Casualty Insurance Co. of Hartford responsible because the defendants allegedly put their financial interests above the plaintiff's well-being.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual and exemplary damages, with interest, costs and all other relief to which she is entitled. She is representing herself.
