Car accident 26

BEAUMONT – Two Jefferson County residents allege they were injured when another driver ran a red light at an intersection in the county.

Isela Martinez and Valeria Lopez filed a complaint on Aug. 6 in the Jefferson County District Court against Pearlia Mallot alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on July 7, they were involved in a motor vehicle collision due to the carelessness of the defendant on College Street in Jefferson County. They allege they sustained serious injuries resulting in medical expenses, pain, mental anguish and lost wages.

The plaintiffs hold Mallot responsible because the defendant allegedly negligently ran through a red light, failed to maintain a careful lookout and failed to take proper evasive actions to avoid the collision.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million and all other relief to which they are entitled. They are represented by A. Clement Wehner and John Arthur Daspit of Daspit Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
