HOUSTON – A local bar and restaurant is alleged in a Harris County man’s state district lawsuit to have disobeyed a city ordinance and caused personal injury.

J. David Honeycutt filed the suit against FFKL Heights, L.P., doing business as Sonoma Wine Bar & Restaurant, and others on Aug. 23 in the Harris County 129th District Court.

According to the original petition, the defendants “had illegally expropriated the sidewalk from its ordinary and legal use as a legal thoroughfare and operated their business there.”

“In violation of City Ordinance, the defendants had installed tables and chairs and seated customers on the public sidewalk, excluding the general public from the area,” the suit says.

Honeycutt claims that he “was forced to detour from safely walking on the sidewalk and was severely injured as a result.”

Consequently, the plaintiff seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

He is represented by Scott Link of the Law Offices of Scott Link and George B. Murr of the law firm Murr Yanochik, P.L.L.C.
