GALVESTON – A League City man alleges his Galveston landlord has failed to maintain a commercial building.

Jahn Eric Humphreys filed a complaint on Aug. 27 in the Galveston County District Court against Ismael Menchaca alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff entered into a lease with the defendant to lease office space at a League City property. He alleges the defendant has refused to maintain the space as required in the lease and as a result of defendant's actions, he has been forced to make repairs that the defendant is legally obligated to maintain.

The plaintiff holds Menchaca responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to maintain the lease space, HVAC system, foundation, walls, roof, windows, doors and other structural components of the building.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of $100,000 and such other lawful and equitable relief. He is represented by Robert Garate of Garate Cooper PLLC in Houston.
