HOUSTON — A patient is suing Dr. Nilesh Mathuria and Dr. David Burkland, citing negligence after they allegedly failed to properly diagnose and treat a cyst.

Ernest Styles filed a complaint on Sept. 28, in the Harris County District Court, against the defendants alleging that they failed to accurately read a CT scan and properly diagnose his medical condition.

Mathuria alleges that on Sept. 28, 2016, the defendants performed a catheter ablation to treat Styles' atrial fibrillation. Following the surgery, he did not improve. Instead his symptoms allegedly were worse.

He allegedly suffered palpitations, a partial or complete collapsed right lung, shortness of breath and excessive bleeding.

He then underwent three surgeries in October to remove a cyst in order to treat his worsening condition.

The plaintiff holds Dr. Nilesh Mathuria and Dr. David Burkland responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to read his CT scan correctly, failed to choose the appropriate procedure and failed to properly diagnose and treat his condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for all damages, plus interest, costs and such other and further relief to which he may be entitled.

He is represented by Todd E. Webb of The Law Office of Todd E. Webb in Houston.
