HOUSTON – A shopper at a Houston store alleges a wet floor caused her to fall and injure her back, neck and leg.

San Juanita Rodriguez filed a complaint on Oct. 11 in the Harris County District Court against Academy LTD alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 1, she was a business patron at defendant's Academy store at 13400 East Freeway, Houston when she slipped on a wet floor and fell to the ground. She alleges she suffered injury to her lower back, right leg and neck as a result of the fall.

The plaintiff holds Academy LTD responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition and failed to warn of the dangerous condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of $1 million and such other and further relief to which she may be entitled. She is represented by Tej R. Paranjpe and Benjamin H. Ruemke of Paranjpe & Mahadass LLP in Houston.
