GALVESTON – A Galveston County couple alleges the husband needed a below-the-knee amputation after an injury at a job site.

Kenneth Ellis and Dorothy Ellis filed a complaint on Oct. 17 in the Galveston County District Court against Schlumberger Limited, et al. alleging negligence and loss of consortium.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 22, 2017, Kenneth Ellis, an employee of Impact Waste, was injured while performing demolition work at defendant Martin Energy Service's facility. He alleges he suffered a severe, crushing injury to his leg that required amputation below the knee due to a delay in providing medical assistance.

Dorothy Ellis alleges she suffered loss of consortium of her spouse as a result of his injury.

The plaintiffs hold Schlumberger Limited, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly did not have proper equipment on the job site and failed to allow time for reasonable and necessary equipment to be utilized in the demolition process.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek monetary relief of more than $1 million and such other and further relief to which they are entitled. They are represented by Darrell A. Apffel and Blake D. Apffel of Apffel Legal PLLC in Galveston.
